Physical capacity. You will climb ladders. You will lift gallons. You will be on your feet most of every working day.
A warm, friendly, positive and supportive presence on a crew. We work close together, in people's homes, for hours at a time.
What we offer
Our simple apprenticeship system aims to train and pay all of our folks an Asheville Area living wage of $24.10/hr. within 1 month of starting with us - but it's possible to earn as much as $30-40/hr if you're up for learning to do estimates and being a shift lead.
Real on-the-job training in a trade you can carry with you the rest of your working life. Give your body the gift of real work: movement, strength, balance, precision.Â
Basic training starts at $17 an hour, and goes up a dollar an hour for every skill you master off of Shelly's "Asheville Handcrafted Painter" list.
Learn in a small, supportive, AFAB/femme-led crew. No yelling. No hazing. No cruelty tolerated. Plenty of space to be your weird self.
Respect for neurospicy needs - "Quiet Outside/Busy Inside" means that we can always hear one another if we need, and that in your own world of paint and flow, you can choose if you like, to learn about other things that interest you; many of us listen to books or recorded classes as we study part-time.Â
